Plumbers and contractors
My husband's customers are plumbers and contractors and I have met many of them. I asked them if they work in cluttered people's homes. They all said yes, that they have seen everything. Plumbers really do see everything, including what goes down the toilets. This is just part of their jobs. Most of them feel this way - that whatever they see is just part of their jobs and no big deal.
They did say that sometimes they need to ask for things to be moved so they can get into the area, such as below the sink. When I talked with them, they also said that they wouldn't make any negative comments or looks. Now this doesn't mean that all plumbers or contractors are like this, of course. I just wanted you to know what the guys are saying in the trade. I'm hoping this will help at least one person to feel comfortable enough to get this type of help.
I've had plumbers and contractors in my home and yes, I did have to work on my feelings of embarrassment, but it did feel good to get the work done. I would recommend that when you call someone, that you first ask if they work in a cluttered home. If you feel any negativity or resistance from them, then call the next one.
